About the majestic Vasa model

This superb 1:65 scale replica has been designed and built using modern techniques to achieve the highest quality results possible. The quality of materials and workmanship, along with the clear, detailed instructions, make it straightforward to assemble, even for novice modellers.

The Swedish warship Vasa was one of the most elaborately decorated ships in the history of seafaring. The ship was covered with close to 500 sculptures, most of which were on the high stern, including figures of Hercules and twenty Roman emperors. The sculptures were elaborately painted, and the dazzling effect was emphasised with gold leaf.

Tragically, the ship sank on her maiden voyage in 1628, but with her hull still largely intact, she was located more than 300 years later in the 1950s and was salvaged in 1961. She is now housed in the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, and is one of Sweden's most visited tourist attractions.
